Hey fellow fishing comrads!!! So I need to restring my reel. I had been using basic berkley trilene XT 12 lb on my bass road and bait casting reel. It worked pretty well last year. However, I went to use it yesterday and the line had such "memory" on it, the line was like a giant curly fry all the way from my pole to the bait. Even with a heavier bait there was no tension on my line it was so curled up. I'm guessing it came from the line sitting around the house over the winter and drying up with out a chance to stretch out.

I had a guy tell me to try using braided line as it won't develop memory and it is way stronger while being thinner than monofilament. I picked up some 10lb spiderwire stealth braid. The stuff is definitely more expensive than the trilene xt, but from the sound of it, it will be worth it. My friend said with this 10lb line, i'll be able to real in a 30lb fish with it should I catch one.

What have yall's experiences been with braided line? Should this 10lb braid be easily strong enough for fishing largemouth bass/etc?

Yea it should work I am not a big fan of spider wire. I use power pro, and sufix braided line.

Shoot thats plenty, spiderwire is usually thicker than power pro.

I've been using spider wire fusion and a love it!

powerpro all the way, I have been using the same spool for three years now without a break.

spiderwire is the most expensive never tried it

powerpro looses its powder or whaterver that green stuff is with in the first few times u use it

suffix looks almost yellow and is very visible on the water

stren super braid was my favorite couldnt think of anything wrong with it

when you use braided line you are supposed to tie a leader made from fluro or mono.so you loose all of the stregnth of the braided line at the leader knot.If you are using just braided line you can expect to catch way less fish.Fish can see braided lines for sure.

i am using fireline, and so far so good! it actually seams to cast alot farther than my stren 8 lb line.

I use spider wire fishing brackish water and caught a 12 pound channel catfish on it and almost hooked something massive:WHOA: (goliath grouper?) next to a bridge on 15lb braid. my inshore rod doubled over and then it let go:irked:... largemouth bass should be no problem, although if the water is clear you will need a fluorocarbon leader, as braid is highly visible.
