  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I feed any bugs that end up in my house. Step into my domain, yee of the insect kingdom, and my minions will do unto thee a most horrible thing!

bro still not safe even if it's garden spider. i have an experience where i saw a native fowl ate a small spider crawling on the ground then after a few minutes his body begin to shake then suddenly drop dead. the spider might have stepped on something toxic (e.g. chemical fertilizer) attached to his hairly legs which poisoned the chicken when he tried swallowed it. :(

agreed.. id rather not lose an arowana like that..

What we forget sometimes is that the pets we have and take care of are ANIMALS first, then pets.In the wild, these "animals" would eat whatever they can find, be it spider, worms, birds, etc. We can't really compare their immune system to a human being because there are differences in immunities. Some build immunities to venom. If it was my fish..and cash is scarce, then I would find food for it in the wild, in this case, spiders are plentiful. Any type of bug should be safe for food for the aro. They do have instinct not to take in food that is not palatable. Notice they spit some food out sometimes, that's why. Give it a try, let us know, but do this at your own risk, in that, I don't have access to the particular spider you have. Orb weaver spiders here in the US are "wimps", with the exception of the black widow, and the brown recluse, which are not orb weavers. there is my .02 cents, hope it's worth someting.
