i just saw the gold spilo piranha, and thought it was the coolest looking of all the piranha. i was wondering how big they got???

i've seen, mabey 5 full grown. the last i saw was posted on oscarfish.com. if you do enough seaching on the site you'll find it, but i really don't have the time to do that.

spilo/macs, can and do reach 11"-12".

spilos rarly even reach 7 inches in captivity and only a couple inches more in the wild

are you sure you arnt thinking of another species?

Spilo/macs have been shoaled on VERY rare occasions by expert hobbyist and have actually been successfully been bred in captivity.

As far as size, a spilo/mac above 10" would be very rare in the aquarium. I had an 8" mac for almost two years and it grew less then an inch!

They are a beautiful fish though. Here was my beauty, the most aggro P I have ever owned and even hand fed!
