youd think i would if i could huh? defensive? im asking for simple answers, ill get to the parameters when i can if that isnt too much trouble. its almost two hours away, like i can drive there now just to get test results? cmon. I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE AS OF NOW. think somebody with a normal intellect could derrive that simple fact from my previous post. i want to know the possibilities, not the same "well, i have to know every detail of your tank". explaining is just wasting time right now.
and excuzzzeme, are you my father? if you want a debate the go on a team. why even ask that question??????? because there are tiny fish keepers on this site duh. and because i do have big fish also.
and yeah i was thinking about quarantining him in my 10 gallon. its definetely a bacterial problem then. the other fish are perfectly fine. its just the ram.
I think we need to relax and review our actions. I don't want this thread closed time and again due to personal arguments around here. This will be my last warning. And for the last time, folks, we are trying to help. No more personal arguments. Is that clear?
Sorry man, but that pathology of thinking just doesnt cut it when dealing with the husbandry of living organisms. You have to take care of them regardless of what you can and cant do. You cant even pick suitable tank mates, why ask us for help that would jeporadize the saftey of the other fish?
That being said, if he pulls through, will he have a new home with suitable temps?
There are different parasites that could be affecting your ram. There is also the possibility that it is a bacterial infection. Since you say "possibilities" here ya go:
parasites
whirling disease
swim bladder infection
Saprolegnia Fungus
Protozoan Infestation
Gram Negative bacterial infection
Could be a parasite, i.e., flukes Internal fungus infection (Ichthyophonus).
These are just some of the possibilities. Your water and temp will help eliminate some of these
alright then, maybe i should re read your previous posts and consider what you told me.
27 was from the nitrate test kit that i bought from my lfs. it was a week ago, and im kinda sketchy on the numbers cause there was so much. all i know is that the parameters were fine, meaning they werent under the recommended amount or above.
I wasnt saying that "you" are looking down on me, i just said that most fish experts do, so i fail to see how i failed to comprehend your words.
and i do thank you for your help, but im really looking for answers without the test kit results. they maybe not exact answers, but thats the best i can get for now so i can hopefully diagnose the problem.
the stubborn part was when you were comparing the two terms, noob and newb. it really seemed like you were suggesting that i was stubborn from what was supposedly a comment geared towards me when you said "someone who cant face the facts and digest the truth." i could be wrong..............
so for that dude, i apologize, but all i really wanted were simple answers on what it could possibly be, cause really? what can i do about it right now? cause if it was something like ich, then there really is no need to know water parameters in advance when the symptoms are salt-like peices on the fish's skin, you just gotta spot it then treat it. i thought thats the kind of case it might be.

what tank mates arent suitable? i fail to understand this?????????????? i would just quarantine the ram like i do with the rest of my fish that are ill. this is not am assumption. your saying i dont know how to care for fish. im not arguing, just stating a fact and asking you why?
There is nothing you can do about it at this time with out knowing the rest of the story. That is why the questions are asked. Temperature, water chemistry, etc all play a role in fish sickness.
You wanted possibilities and I gave you that. Treatment possibilities are wide ranging and go anywhere from water changes regardless of your opinion of it, to euthanasia and everything in between. Nothing can be recommended at this time. Why recommend euthanasia if a water change is the answer? It matters not what your water was a week ago, it matters what it is right now. Just because the other fish are not showing signs of sickness does not mean your tank is fine if it is of unknown conditions. Just because your water was fine 2 weeks ago doesn't mean something may not have upset it recently. Metaphor - You take your car to a mechanic and tell him to fix it. He asks why what's wrong and you reply I don't know it was fine 2 weeks ago. What might be wrong and how much will it cost to fix it? You either get a huge bill because he fixed everything he found or its shoved out the door due to a complete lack of information.
You seem to feel insulted by these questions but it does matter. They aren't being asked just to waste server space. Guessing is what causes the difference between correcting a problem or exacerbating it. No one will do that if they truly are trying to help.
Please, no more guessing games. Either supply the answers or drop the request for assistance.

Just a note about water chemistry..
Water that was "fine" yesterday, May not be fine today, and water that is fine today may not be tomorrow.
So many things can effect water parameters, and they can fluctuate rapidly depending on tank conditions. I understand that you dont have a test kit, and I only wanted to post this to help clarify why everyone is so animate on having water test results at the first sign of any problems.
It is a good idea, if you do not have a master kit, to at least have a ammonia, and nitrite kit on hand to make fast water changes if necessary to deal with a situation, as these 2 parameters can be the most rapid acting, and lethal problems within a tank.
