I suppose if you don't have an issue with cleaning it all the time it would be kinda neat.
I first saw it in this video. Absolutely insane filtration setup. Skip to about 3:30min where they explain the filtration of that tank. There are a lot of stages before that so I assume it has less clogging issues.
