Label was correct.. the usually go by the common name "starry night eel" I had one that got 18"iir imo they can get 20" maybe more. They are a very slender spiney compared to the other species more commonly seen.. but I've been seeing these guys fairly often the past year here in the US.
Also never bothered my tetras ect in my community tank.. had one I lost to a nasty disease not long ago that was over 12" from about 4" when I got last fall. wonderful fish for a docile/community tank. he was out more during the day then other species I've kept.. as well as being one of the few species I haven't had aggression issues with among con-specifics.
