So I got a spiny eel and it was labeled “African spiny eel” (I’m going to make another thread for identifying it)
Anyways 2 days ago I noticed a bite on its tail and I was told it looks like a pleco bite. Well I did a water change as I was due for this weeks water change+ filter and I put 1/2 dose of pimafix in the tank to help out
Yesterday morning it looked like the wound was healed slightly, but the eel was still breathing heavy
Last night I noticed the eel was swimming on the bottom upside down and still breathing heavy. I put it in a hospital tank @75f, added 2 air stonesw air pump and did 50% old and 50% new water. I also changed water in my main tank as some other fish looked like they were breathing heavily.
This morning the eel was still upside down, but can turn on it’s side and was finally swimming again (although poorly)
My 150 is a stream setup that is half filled and has high flow with many calm water areas for fish to hide in if they don’t like the current. There are many plants growing on the driftwood exposed to air (Anubias, orchids, ferns) and many hare roots in the water to help filter the water.
Tankmates are barilius, garra, some other species of minnow, and a panther eel (99%sure)
I still need to test the other parameters
PH: 7.6 last night
Temp is usually in mid 70’s
High o2
Please advise on how to save it
