Fire Eels are so strange! I just got a new ~10 inch, who went through their "normal" not gonna-eat-anything-no-matter-what-you-stuff-in-front-of-my-face phase! Then, after exhausting the food options of live blackworms, live bloodworms, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, dried worms, etc etc...I saw a bag of frozen shrimp (26-30 count ha) in the freezer and remember a TT eel's love for ghost shrimp and figured I'd cut a piece and give it a go.
Well, all I had to do was place the shrimp to the water line, and the guy shot out of his cave and whipped back and forth at the top of the tank. Needless to say, he really likes eating (my) shrimp! We'll see how long it lasts...and wont feed earthworms now since I dont need him eating only those!
For those having problems, give the shrimp a go.
