Spiny tailed iguana?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From what i understand they can be a handful and hard to tame. One came into the pet store i used to work at as a surrender. It was about 8" sv...couldn't get near it. Ate great though.

I picked mine up from the guy who owns reptilekingdom.com, he knew a lot about them (and everything else lol). Try emailing him, I don't know how quickly he'll reply, but he's got a lot of info on them.

I spent about 2 weeks catching Ctenosaura in Mexico for research when I was in college. Definitely not the best iguana species to keep. They're very, very hard to tame and love to slash you with their claws and whip you with their tail. Lots of better choice animals out their but to each their own.

getting as a rescue i spent some time with the iguana loved climbing on me and never whipped it's tail or slash. I think it's captive bred but i understand what your saying they love moving around and not being handled.

They aren't touchy feely animals by any means.........However, they are more intelligent than some people on this planet, and respond well to positive reinforcement.........

They don't respond well to force handleing or being cornered........Even Similis and Pectinata will settle down, if given the right options and opportunities......
