spirulina experience with frontosa

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah i know i was just saying how 100% pure culture spirulina sounds like some serious blue enhancer plus it has krill

according to some other guy on another forum, dainichi costs more than NLS and thier prices keep going up and up.

the dainichi packaging looks like the rolls royce of fish food.

LOL rollsroyce fish good =]

I ve fed mine a mix of food with protien but also spirulina and they have done really well. All spirulina wouldnt be good, but nothing wrong with mixing it up for both. My fish have lots of color I have 7-8incher and his body is still white and he has a nice blue to him. It may or may not be the diet but you should give it a try. The spirulina krill sounds like a good idea.

yea, from my experience flashy packing does not make a product better... read the ingredients and see... also ask around see what people think. I know that a lot of people who use that stuff would also use NLS, but they said it was too expensive...

I've tried 100% pure spirulina flakes with my frontosa's and other african cichlids when they were smaller, from this site http://kensfish.com/kensflake1.html (midway down the page under "Pure Spirulina Flake").

My fish were on NLS prior to using it and were fed NLS concurrently with the 100% spirulina flakes, so I didn't notice any change in their blue hues (which were already excellent, and possibly indicates the spirulina content in NLS is enough). Ceased using it due to cost, small flake size, and the fact that my fronts were getting too large (larger frontosa's might not go for it due to the small flake size and will probably prefer pellets over them). My mbuna's loved it, but they're not particular.

hahaha my mbuna will eat anything, including my arm...

Kensfish sells some great spirulina pellets that aren't totally dried. They're packed moist and they're a really great deal for the money. I've had great experience feeding them to my mpimbwe colony mixed with NLS large pellet. The krill sounds like an interesting idea though. They're guaranteed to at least eat them, I guess. I personally feed mine mainly NLS and supplement with frozen krill and their favorite power food - nightcrawlers. I've seen some *explosive* growth after I started giving them high protein worms.

The best part about feeding worms is the availability - Walmart at the sporting goods counter. Even though I despise buying or even going there.
