Alright here is my thinking. Eventually when I move, which could be in the next 6-12 months, I will set up a 125g and 75g in the basement of my house. for now I am going to split the 125g that is running. I have decided that I want a showy single speciman cichlid for each tank. I want them to be F1, for health reasons and that I like to grow them out myself, etc.

so I will be ordering from Rapps, and obviously it comes down to personal opinion, but I would like to hear opinions of others and hopefully what people know from experience with keeping some of these fish.
possible options:

Amph. Chancho 5-5.5"
Amph. Labiatus 5-5.5"
Amph. Sagittae 3-3.5" xanthic race
trimac 1.5"
Herichthys carpintis ‘Escondido’ 2-2.5"
Paratheraps bifasciatus 6-6.5"
Vieja argentea 1.5-2”
Vieja maculicauda 1.5-2”
Hoplarchus psittacus 1.5-2”

I have been leaning towards the chancho and labiatus, because of their personalities, and definatly dont want a boring fish that sits in the corner.but like the Vieja species for the colors.

thoughts please

BELIEVE ME Vieja Argentea are not boring in personality. Mine is 3" and is just as aggro as my 11" Midas. MEGA glass banger and I can't keep him with anything. A showy argentea in a 125 would look stunning. Instead of a Chancho go with a Amarillo or a Barred Midas "red Isletas" for a 75. Much more reasonable size wise because chancho get 16"+.

Again Argentea are complete nut cases and I love my Juvi male. I am so glad Voss345 sold him to me.

uhhh A trimac sounds good, i don't know any latin names so you got me stumped. its really just a matter of personal opinion now.

just put the order in for Rapps
-(1) 4-4.5" Vieja synspilus - purple/red headed race
-(3) 2-2.5" Black Nasty to grow out
