Sedating maybe the best way to go.
Pulling out a stinger trough the eye socket is
maybe to painfull or to stressfull and give you more
problems.
Ask for help from other MFK members living near you.
Someone must now how to sedate a ray or wil know someone
who does.
On a dutch site they use sadation to chip rays(www.freshwaterstingray.nl)
maybe ask for advise
... that looks painful poor guy I hope he makes it. I think ray owners should use little sand so that they can easily see the stingers. or they can use black sand to keep this from happening again
All is well in stingray world... The stinger was working its way out on its own and had grown to ~1" exposed. I was afraid that it was going to cut up or impale my female so I performed emergency surgery last night. Total time out of the water was only a couple of seconds. into the kiddy pool - wet towel over body and stinger - pliers to remove stinger - back into the tank. I have it on video and I will try to get it up onto youtube this evening.
man, I wish I could help but I have no idea how or what to tell you. Please keep us informed. That way we can know if it ever happens again to someone....
