I cannot agree more. If your worried buy a generator then it will set you back some money but it will put you at ease. Don't forget to get gasoline too lol

Yup. I think the batter powered air pump is a must. I have read that that can run for a long time on D batteries. If power goes out while I am at work or night my fish and BB will survive until I get home/wake up.

As part of the the next home, I plan on investing in a generator for the house run off the gas line coming into the home. I have a gas line coming to my current home but don't want to drop $10-15K knowing I will be moving in 1-3 years.

So, getting back to the OP's situation, with a single 8" fish in a 180, I think we can agree that overstocking is not at all an issue.....and regular, brief power outages shouldn't really be much of a concern.

You may have missed his thread in Other Characins a while ago, where he outlined the filtration challenges he is facing. This wolf has an impressive bioload. As it should, because it's still a juvenile.
Listen, I respect your thoughts and you have a good point. On the other hand, I have no reason to doubt other fishkeepers' experiences, either, who had canisters going back quickly.
Each tank and setup and stock are different, and each of us has to make their own risk assessment. Personally, I err on the side of caution. A B11 costs $13. A UPS around $60. Compare that to the price of an Aimara, passion for the specific fish, and make a choice.

Completely agree.

Different viewpoints/opinions will give others more info to more wisely make their own assessment......and relax and enjoy the hobby instead of being too stressed ;)
