sponge filter for small indoor pond

will sponge filters work for a small indoor pond say 200 gallons or smaller. i will use powerheads to make a current. good idea or bad?

Some people do it but I'm not a huge fan of sponge-only filtration. Or HOB only, for that matter. But I like to over-filter.

My 220g tank (not pond) had a double overflow with a packed sump, an eheim 2217, a small internal filter in the sump, AND an eheim 2262. And that was just enough to make it clean enough to appease me.

So compared to that, I can't even imagine sponge only.

true. idk i have always been a fan of just doing water changes for clean looking water. sponge filters rock for small tanks
