Sponge Filter

I won't set up any tanks without at least one or more air driven sponge filters. I prefur the Hydro brand (pictured) and like driving them with a fine air stone for high efficiancy and safety. During a power failure...a battery powered air pump can keep the fish safe for a week or more if necessary.

all i use atm is 3 powerheads with sponge on them!! works a treat!! water is crystal clear and and amonia is always very low... now that they've been in there aq few months i dun even wrinse them out...just do water changes every 2 weeks!!
