Sponge filter

Im setting up a new tank. I have a sponge in another tank that im going to move to the new tank. Can I run just a sponge in a tank for about a week until I get my filter? I all also have a powerhead for circulation

Hello; I have run tanks with only sponge filters for extended periods without a problem. a week should not be an issue.

what size sponge is it? what size tank? good way to introduce bb to a tank but depends on size. also leave the sponge in when you put the perm filter on for a while since your sponge is your only source of bio until the new filter loads up.

Its a 75. The sponge is rated up to 125. Im going to leave the sponge in anyway because its a growout tank

So it's probably the biggest size Hydor sponge? Like gray base, dark gray sponge, clear uptake tube? Should be fine, but I might add another sponge on the opposite side of the tank if you can. They are cheap and never hurts to have an extra laying around (if you don't have an extra already).

Run hydo V sponges in all my tanks as extra bio filters. Never have to worry about cycling another tank again.
