hey you guys i want to have my bowfront completly sponge filtered only because when my Red Tiger Motaguense breed alot of fry die by getting sucked up into my Emperor 400 which i hate , so how many sponge filters would i need to power my tank i was thinking 3 of them and what kind should i use i currently use 1 sponge in it but idk the brand, does it matter the brand of sponge filter because i can get the azoo sponges here, and elite double sponge, or should i just buy hydors, and are the sponges that stick to the wall good? also i have a 30g medical tank , sometimes there is 3 6" fish in there at a time getting healed how many sponges should i run in there thanks u and here a pic of my 72g and 2 of the sponge filters i was talking about im pretty sure u know the rest, also sorry for the old pic of my 72g but my 30g looks the same and in my 30 g i divided one side with egg crate should i put one sponge on each side?

Easiest solution would be to put a sponge on the intake tube of your emperor power filter. This would prevent the fry from being sucked up. Most brands of sponge filters work fine. Some sponge is just better made and lasts longer. I like the ATI hydro sponges the best. They come in all different sizes and can be hooked up together.

but when i apply a sponge around the emperor it strains the impeller and the suction is still powerful and holds the fry against it

bump i jsut bought 1 elite and i hate the annoying sound of the bubbles , so im down to buying either azoo or hydor what u guys think does it matter which

azoos are good filters I would stack 2 filters on each side of the tank ,if you have a small powerhead I would run it on 1 of the stacks forf a little more mech. filtration .but air driven is fine also

huh stack?

stacking can be done by pulling the base off 1 filter and taking the strainer - sponge combo and stacking(placing)it,on top of the other strainer sponge- combo, after youremove the top of filter #2(thats were the bulls-eye is),I would put the air-line on the bottm filter, using an airstone ,if possible.

and is that more powerful than running 2 seperate sponges
