Sponges and a 265

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Buy a hang on overflow. Get a 20l or whatever will fit under the tank. Bigger the better. Put a bunch of sponge filters in it. I would suggest you get from Swiss Tropical made from Poret foam. A smallish magdrive pump for return. w you have a clean looking tank that has super clean water.

Finally got everything I needed but the sponges that came in were the the correct PPI so I returned them. I did some more research today and going a different route. Will be installing a corner matten filter in each corner of the 265. I found a huge tank that runs two corner matten filters and the tank look amazing. With all the reading I have done, I'm surprised I dont see these filters on here more often. Cleaning is done as long as a year or more depending on the fish, still have to do normal water changes but this looks to be my ticket. I'm waiting for the guy at Swiss Tropicals to quote me some poret foam for the corners. I bought a 925 pgh air pump but may run powerheads instead for more flow. Here is the tank I found. Looks amazing

The LED Lights are taped under the rim of the tank with electrical tape until the waterproof tape is here. The lights light up the entire tank, better than the $400 Marineland LEDs. I'm starting on the other 265 now which will be the Madagascar tank.
I took the media from the filters and put them behind the corner filters as well as the heater. So far, day 3 Ammonia is at 0. I still need to move several more Clowns and Botia Loaches from the 210 but cant catch them yet.
Soon as the air line arrives I will put the pump under the tank and mount it to a board so there is little vibration. I will also put it on some extra foam I have laying around.
