I don't know why everybody cares so much about the spots being pure white. They look better with a bit of yellowing IMO.
Henlei they have a two to three toned spot coloring sometimes. Looks amazing. I've only ever seen one Leo
In the flesh with pure white spots and it was after I almost end melted her with flubendazole thinking it was safe. Her spots were yellow and white but that med made the spots start to run she was in distress so I flushed out that med and her spots stayed bone white forever. It's like it burned out the yellowing pigment ???
I've heard that the Asian farms do this also to create "pure white"
I've seen tons of black rays in the flesh and in photos and I find it bothersome that they are marketed higher because the spots are whiter ?
From experience the spots can change color daily. I've had many black rays with white spots one day and than yellows pop out next morning . Im starting to think it might be there mood because I notice color changes in all species of rays .

Do all black rays get white spots? Or do some stay a tint yellow. For example would this ray brighten up or will he keep the tint? I believe this one was 8-9".

The coloring will change back and fourth for the duration of its life. Some days white others Youl see some yellowing.

Mine will get a little yellow trim every now and then. Most of the time he has massive white spots. I notice he gets a bit of darker black ring around each spot with a small amount of yellow. Then it seems to fade. Each time he does this his spots seem a little bigger. His spots have been growing since I put him on whit sand. I never do camera tricks. Here is some pics.

Here you can see a touch of dark black and a touch of yellow.uploadfromtaptalk1371784426291.jpg

Here no yellow but the dark black.

Then here he has no yellow and basking in the natural sunlight. There was not other light source but the sun and like all my other pic 100% natural. If it wasn't for that damn reflection this would be my all time favorite pic. Hell with it it is high up there. uploadfromtaptalk1371784586523.jpg

I personally love the look of henlei's with very pronounced rings. Its just fascinating. The yellowish colour does definitely change intensity here and there. But heck i don't care. Yellow/white these fish are still imo of the most amazing captive aquatic inhabitants you could possibly keep.
