What's a good tank size for a spotted bass? I know they don't get as big as largemouth but how big is that? Same food and all? Btw, this is why I think it's a sotted, broken line pattern, mouth does not go past the eye, and his dorsal fins connect. He's only 5 inches, so is he still too small too tell?

Spotted are about the same size as typical smallmouth. I'd say at minimum you're looking at a tank with 72" X 24" footprint. Otherwise, yeah, care is the same as for other black bass.

Where did you get him? Can you put up some pics? At that size spotted usually have a lot of orange in the caudal fin, but this may not show if he's washed out. I don't know if spotted have been stocked in FL but they do not naturally occur there except in the westernmost panhandle.

Found him in a very small creek.
I'm not surprised it was a spotted because the creek is very small and shallow. A 5 pound lmb would not fit in it. I can't take any pictures till tomorrow as my sister took my camera to her friends house for the night.

Actually, it's man made from a drainage pipe.
I'm surprised there's even fish in there but there is.
Some say it's connected to a natural pond deep in the forest to where the creek ends. But I've never been that far back.

youve might have found something better then a spotted, sounds like youve got one of the other small black bass species. Maybe a Suwannee bass, or Shoal bass.

It's not a shoal or suwannee, no red eyes.
It look a lot like a largemouth, just the dorsals connect, brocken pattern, blotchy, mouth doesn't go past the eyes, and has somewhat lined scales near it's belly.

Red eyes are not a reliable trait; sometimes spotteds have them and sometimes the others don't. I'd really like to see photos of this fish.
