i know its a common question but ive tried a lot of methods and this guy wont budge, starved him for about 2 weeks and still wont take pellets, krill or market shrimp. he only wants feeders and i hate starving him so i give in, should i just keep starving him longer or any other methods you guys recomend that can help.
i also tried the method that worked for my pbass that drop in a feeder then a shrimp and they will go for it but this guy doesnt. what else can i do

quarentine your feeders. thats what i do cuz my gars refuse frozen and prepared foods as well. quarentining them helps ensure that they are healthy and prevents parasites and disease.

first off, don't starve the fish. it's not going to remain healthy if you continue to starve it especially if it is a young of the year fish. buy some raw frozen fish or frozen silversides...put the piece of fish on the end of a long stick, a piece of hard acrylic tubing works well...then just wiggle it around in front of the gar and encourage it to strike. keep offering the food until the gar takes it...it will eventually come around. you can even start with a dead feeder on a stick. good luck--

ill try that if nothing else works thanks

Just be patient. It took mine like 6 months to start eating pellets. I think it's harder when they are bigger. All I did was feed pellets like 90% of the time and eventually it came around.
