Spotted gar has no teeth?

oh and my gar is always at the top of the water.. even in the shop it was. Whats going on? all the videos on youtube they are all swimming around the depth..

O thats not a gar,Its a Charachin,it doesnt have teeths for these species,They are normally surface fish

False gars are often named needle nose gar or rocket gar. It's not a gar species and more of a fresh water baracuda. Go Google it.

As for gars staying at the top because it breathe air. Adult gars which are use to their environment will go down more often. Younger gars tend to stay near the top more often but the should still go down.
 
If your gar just floats at the top, then u have a problem.
Pictures will help a lot. And I think u need advise from the more expert people here.
 
Ok. ive been mis-sold.. I'll be taking this fish back. I can see the shop saying they can only give me a credit note.. If they do ill be angry, lol... :( striped pike characin.. he wont even eat anything i give to him!
