Spotted gar in central American tank

I keep central American cichlids so do not know much about gars, I just wanted to know if a spotted gar would hold its own in a this type of tank as I love the look of these fellas,and what sort of tank size am I looking at 180 gallon?

Gars & cichlids are a terrible idea unless the cichlids are small enough to be used as food.

Your gar will be fine I have kept gar with some pretty mean fish and they don't bother them a bit it might be because of there hard scales just keep an eye out for them picking on them
