How long have you had them together? My Florida ignores his silver tankmates (pinktail chalceus, silver arowana). He'll eat small fish of course, but anything over 5" or so is totally ignored (the gar is 18"). If you've had the combo for awhile with no problems and the gar is full grown you might be OK, but there's always a chance he'll turn on the silver dollars.

been together for 4 months. silver dollars are 4" and the gar is 13" never has even looked at them. my polys look like they try to take a bite now and again but never the gar.
 
^ You might be OK, just don't be shocked if you lose one; if you see any bite marks I'd remove them. I have some hoevenii barbs (redfin cigar sharks) that I tried to add at 5" or so and my gar definitely stalked them, I'm waiting for them to get to 8" or so (the size of my chalceus) before I try introducing them again.
