How big does a spotted gar get? I thought he was a florida gar but he is about a foot long and doesn't seem to be growing that much. I've had him at least a couple years in a 150gal.

Largest I've seen in an aquarium is 1.5 feet.
Mine is alreay 1 feet and still growing. Guess it depends very much on your tank size and its diet.

That's weird, my comp. must be acting up again, I could've sworn that I replied to this topic, ah well. :lol: Anyway, in the wild spotteds hit 44" and Floridas hit 52"... but, they usually stay small in aquariums, around 3'.

Mine is about 14", but only had him a couple of months. It came with a tank I bought at the time.

I dont think I have ever seen them more than 2-3 ft in the wild.

I have one that's about 6 inches and he's not eating much. How can i get it to eat more? Do they take bloodworms?

i can try dried shrimps. do they take it? or do they prefer small feeders. i've never seen mine take anything since the day i got him which is about 3 weeks ago. tried market prawns and pallets.
