sounds good everyone, i will keep you all posted. will likely have updates on the project soon too.

unless you can make arrangements for shipping, i won't be able to ship across the border. i don't have the time or resources (and won't for a while) to make such arrangements. for now the plan would be within the US for any shipping, with pick-up being preferred--

Try to contact journeyKC on what he was using for shipping them.

It's a hassle to ship outside of the U.S. You run into needing import/export licenses, customs, etc.

I think it's more work and cost then he's looking for.

GL with the spotteds.

i def am interested in 1. when will they be available? im buying a house so life is hectic right now.

that is the part that would be your responsibility. as others have stated, international shipping is more trouble than i am looking to deal with right now unless someone else wants to make all the arrangements (even then it's questionable).

as for the question about when the gars are available, we have all the fish right now, it's just a matter of getting them up to size and ready to go. this will also determine how many are available (for experiment or sale) and at what size/time--

let us know!! im really interested. tryed getting some a few months ago and it fell through. :(

hi all, thank you for your comments and interest. at this point in time i will have 10-15 fish available. individuals will be available for pick-up next week, those that need to be shipped will be shipped in the next 1-2 weeks. individuals will be fed well in the mean time to get them as large as possible by shipping time (likely around 6").

price on fish will be $45 each, not including shipping. pick-up is preferred. these fish are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you would like a fish, paypal the appropriate amount to E_americanus@hotmail.com (plus 3% to cover paypal charges) and i will hold your fish for you. shipping costs will be paid later.

again, these are young of the year spotted gars, species is verified and they are generally not available often. PM/post/email me if you have any further questions (will eventually post into buy/sell as well).

PS-- all funds generated from the sale of these fish will go back into the spotted gar project; updates will be coming soon!

Awesome! I'll send mine tomorrow....

What are they going to be feeding on?

currently feeding on fathead minnows (rosies you see at LFS are same species, the fish we are feeding are caught from experimental ponds and therefore much healthier) --

What is the shipping charge likely to be? Just trying to get an idea so I know what to expect...

Also, any pics??

For Southeast Michigan members.
We are also in desperate need of some 20 gallon tanks to fully complete an experiment that is key to our research on Spotted gars in the Disjunct Northern population. If you would happen to have a spare 20 gallon laying around and would like to donate it please let us know. The tank of coarse can be returned to you at completion of the study. We only need them for a short time. We do need to silicone dividers into the tanks but it is nothing permanent.

Leads on cheap or used 20 gallon tanks would also be appreciated.

Please E-mail Solomon E_americanus@hotmail.com or Richard at Atractosteus@gmail.com if you may have any

Thanks much for looking and your interest. Both the sale of these fish and any donated (Borrowed really) materials will help much in the continued research and study of these little known but beautiful fish.
