Spotted or just another florida?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_gar says Spotted occur in small part of FL The spotted gar is native to North America and its current range is from southern Ontario to the west from the Nueces River in Texas east to the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico and southeast to the lower Apalachicola River in Florida.

But, Hung, you appear right. MFK and other sites (for example this was useful to me http://www.oscarfishlover.com/forum/74-gars/265468-spotted-or-florida-gar-what-s-the-difference ) state the 2/3rd thing is useless with aquarium gars.
you believe in wikipedia? you know I can just go and write whatever I want in there?
Solomon and Richard had said many time that the range of Florida gar and Spotted gar do not touch. Any gar look like a spotted from Florida is Florida gar. And that information come from actual data from their researches.

Thank you again. You are right. No I don't believe and tend to doubt 99% of what I find on the net. Hence, I look for info consistency from various places. I do pay attention to the source credibility though, of course. For fairness sake, Wiki is peer-reviewed but it takes time to catch up. It may be quite skewed, I realize.

I do believe the MFK experts and as stated you appear to be totally correct with your statements. I've learned and thank you again, Hung.

And the experts, I am sure, are right about the ranges too. If any, the hybridization appears to have taken place at SE Asia farms, not nature. My bad. My lesson.
