Spotted pike characins with limas?

I seen a 3 ft marble gar in the same tank with a 14" spotted pike characin at ark aquatics and they look nothing alike 1 the marble is a true gar and 2 they get about 4-5 times bigger.

^^That's the problem with common names, they can apply to just about anything. If you Google marbled gar, you'll find that there are two fish that frequently pop up in the search are the spotted pike characin, Boulengerella maculata and the spotted gar, Lepisosteus oculatus.

Defining a common name as definitively belonging to any one species when you're dealing with animals as obscure as these is extremely difficult. No one is going to argue that an elephant is anything but an elephant, but more than one fish can be a "marbled gar".
