Do you guys think it would be possible to spray paint a tank that is already running? I am thinking of just covering up the top, opening up all the windows, and putting a bunch of fans.

Would that be possible? What paint should I use? How long would it take to dry?

i wouldnt try it if i were you, I'd go to walmart buy enough rubbermaid bins (with covers) to hold 50% of the water put the fish in the temporary holding tanks (rubbermaid) and then you can paintyour tank without worry of your fish dying and you get to give your tank a deep clean at the same time
I already have a couple of rubbermaids that would be able to hold the fish, so that is no problem. Tank is a 90 gallon and living in NYC I can not just go and do it in my backyard.

are you just trying to just get the back painted. If that is the case you can get the window tint that you use on cars. You can double layer it to get the darkness you want. And down the road if you decide you do not like it you can always remove it. Easier than taking paint off.

if u really want to. just go to homedepot buy a really big piece of cardboard cut it the size of ur tank spray that and tape it on.

Use either a roller or a paintbrush. I just painted mine while repainting the room. Matches the wall color and blends in. After painting several coats I topped it off with a coat of semi gloss.

with a tank thats setup an running, Id use a 2-4" roller, an wouldnt chance any overspray contaminating the tank.
