who has caribes, terns, super reds, for sale right now:popcorn:

SA has cariba listed 6-7" 124.99. Don't know if that's an individual or members of a shoal. You could probably call and ask though. Call SA they'll be able to tell you I bet.

dammit jp your a genius! The lady has been volunteering with make-a-wish for about 7 years now. There's no way she would deny the special needs kids at Children's their piraya tank! I wonder what the biggest tank they'd let me donate is?

The LFS had about a 4-5" inch pygopristis denticulata. They don't know what it is. They have it labeled "pristobrycon sp." You think I could keep one in a 29 temporarily?

I think they max out at around 8" the most??? could be wrong.

does it look like this??

yeah but younger.

I read you can shoal them, and they eat nuts which is why they have the pentacuspid tooth.

cool, get it/them..but isn't nuts more expensive than fish/shrimp? with everything trying to be healthy :) I don't know anything about piranahs that don't eat meat ;)
do you have to feed them special nuts or any nuts will do? does it have to be un-open ones??

they eat shrimp/fish too. I guess they just live in a part of the river where for a certain time each year they need to live on seeds/nuts until there are fish to eat and they just evolved that way. Not sure. I think they're related to Catoprion mento. I'm almost positive thats what they have if they still have it. Seriously though I should probably just stick with cons for the small tank. I like cichlids and they're usually active when the serra is not.

You should, my largest oscar and the large shoal of cons are making the 180g much more interesting to watch. it's been almost a week and the oscar is still holding it's ground :)

I think my blue diamond is having a thing for squid.

First tried with the head with tentacles yesterday. didn't show any interest at first. My convicts were actually the first to attack those tentacles, even my oscars showed slight interest to the squid. anyway, the largest male convicts managed to drag the piece of squid to his cave so I was like damn and went to get one of those aquatic gardener thingy (if you don't know what I'm talking about, click here), when I came back I saw the blue diamond was trying to drag that piece of squid out of the convicts cave and once he did, he was attacking it like it just killed his whole family. I decided to leave him alone with the squid cuz didn't want to freak him out by approaching to the tank. Went back few minutes later only two tentacles were left and was stolen into an other convict's cave. he looked like he was full and I was happy and surprised as it was the first time I fed him dead and with great success.

I tried again today, first it was a piece of squid's body that I cut out, about 0.5" or so wide, a good 2"-2.5" long and he striked as soon as he saw it and swallowed the whold thing down, so I quickly ran back to the fridge and took out two more pieces. Same thing happened to the second piece and by the third one I think he got a little full, only ate half so I took it out.

I'm very pleased with this rhom and planning to keep him until he die of old age.

Spend a good 15 minutes or so near the tank to observe how it behave in the 180g and I'm starting to have second thought on moving it to 75g. The way he thrives in that 180g makes me feel guilty of ever thought about moving him to a 75g....now I'm really start to re think the wholde caribe shoal ideas after seeing how he enjoys the foot print of that square tank.

just buy another 180 for the shoal if you got space
