Squirres or rats

This is a shrew. They are mainly insectivorous, meaning they are some of the closest rodents to being purely carnivorous. They always kind of reminded me of what I would think of getting by combining a mouse with a tapir.
Oddly enough I kind of want one lol. It's so weird yet somewhat natural looking. Kind of like it belongs yet doesn't at the same time.
Shrews are beautiful little things, they are extremely common in the uk, and my damn cat brings around 3 or 4 a week home! What is it about cats that they have this strange urge to bring their kills home to show their owners before eating them?
I could say the same thing about some of the strange mutt cichlids we see on here, lol.
Shrews have an extremely high metabolism that requires constant live feeding. We tried to keep one that my son caught. Unfortunately, it did not end well.
I think it's the whole "bring food home to the pride" instinct. My cat Squeaks left me 4 or so mice a week..
They actually are trying to teach you to hunt. When you throw it away, they get frustrated. They bring the mouse back for hunting practice! It's cool, because you are their pack, and they think you are terrible at whatever, so they bring you back something to practice! Look it up.
I won't argue with that.I come across them in my backyard every now and then and I don't bother them.
