Stability

All my indos are not stable at all, this has been discussed before with some saying that unstable means a good thing, and i'm leaning towards that, all my unstable indos are healthy and active, while the stable one in my observation is either threatened or somethings wrong with it. One of my largest indo was stable the whole week, lookin good but then it had some bladder issues. Though i'm not sayin that if it's stable it aint happy. It's just my personal observation.

They are stable for loads of different reasons

I had a traditional stripe indo that was stable in my tank for 4 months at 7" then it got to 10" and went unstable for 2 years and grew to 16"

I then sold it and it has been stable for nearly 1 year in a different tank

As for ST being so high priced well I think if you get a perfect 3 bar which is stable has a good body shape I would take that any day over a forked bar ST with messy stripes and not the same on both sides

People just want ST just for the sack of it even if it looks rubbish

To much focus on ST or IT you should price a tiger on what it looks like not what it is other yes what they are matters but not a fish like a tiger when most people can't tell if its IT or ST

Surprised you think the physical features are the thing that determines the value of these fish. IT's are great fish, but no fish (IMO) has the laidback personality with his owner than an ST. That is what makes these fish special to me

You are basing your opinion on owning one large ST

You feel this way because you have one large ST as tigers I feel do much better on their own

I know people who have one very large IT and it acts no different to a large ST

Because IT are easy to come by people nearly always keep more than one per tank and that's what changes the was all tigers act

I had a tank full of large ST the one I have now included when in a group the ST acted like IT it wasn't until my ST was kept on his own or only with tigers half its size that it felt no threat
If you have mixed tigers of similar size its like they never feel at easy

How many people do you know with one 20" + IT

I know someone with a IT about the same size as my ST and trust me it act eats the same as my ST
Ade knows the fish to

At 1 time, i had 14 & 16 indos with 9 ST's all living in 1 tank. The ST's ranged from 5 to 10inch. Yes, the big indo was the boss, but certaintly wasn't the dat with colors or the dat who spent the majority of the time in front half of the tank. Both Indos along with 1 half blind ST & 1 very shy ST spent 90% of the time in the back half of the tank. The other seven superstable 100% of the time ST's used the front half of the tank the majority of the time. I've always thought that stability & friendly front of the tank personality coincide much of the time no matter IT or ST. For me, most ST's seemed to carry these traits most all of their lives while IT's seem to get a bit more cautious & sometimes skittish which i believe contributes to them losing stable colors providing he is a healthy well fed fish. Unhealthy, stunted Indo dats always had much more vibrant colors than healthy specimans. Just my experience. Exceptions to every rule of course!

Yes, I've never had a 20+inch Indo in a tank as the only dat. So u might be correct that if left alone, they can take on certain personality traits of an ST at these monster sizes. It would be nice to see a video of a monster IT moving constantly without fear and commanding the same kind of front of the tank presence of an ST
