not sure anyone have ever ask this question before. i have two ITs, one NTT, and two NGTs, but my major problem is that the ITs, NTT and one of the NGT never get stable. when the lights are off they then to get their colors back with solid black stripes. when lights are on they looses it. or when it is feeding time with feeders in the tank the grow their solid stipes and golden bodies. so does anyone know how to keep them stable stripes and golden body colors?

Don't mess with the tank set up for a while. Hands out of tank unless waterchanging.

Use a dim light. I only use one 20w tube. For a 125 g tank. Most of my indos are pretty stable. (see avatar)

No hiding spaces

very strong filtration

then wait days, weeks and months.

I find that background and substrate don't really affect stabliltiy of my tigers.( ime, in last 5 years of keeping dats)

my datnoid hides all the time behind my drift wood and he is unstable most of the times. sometimes i would take out the drift wood and he has no where to hide and he gets table i dont know why but its wierd. im thinking that he is scared hiding all the time and when his hidding spot is gone he fells a little bit better. idk you decide.
