does anyone uses stainless steel pot scrubber as bio-media?
I've seen people use nylon ones but what about the stainless steel one? it suppose have more surface area than the nylon version, just don't know if it'll effect the fish in anyway?

Here's some info I found online with different bio media and their surface area/ft³

Dont think so, but Im not to sure.

i wouldnt. stainless steal is only rust free for a finite period of time. as im finding out with my cutlery now.
eventually even the highest grades of stainless steal rust.

If you want real surface area, go with sintered glass media.
Metal is never a good idea, even if stainless. If not rust, it can still leach.

The leaching would be my concern as well. Where do you get sintered glass media from?

The cost is my first concern LOL

If cost is truly your 1st concern, use lava rock or sand.

Or just nylon pot scrubbers. They'll do the same thing at (I assume) a fraction of the cost.

yea, that's what I'm going to use but I'm really surprised that I was unable to find it in any supermarkets. They only carry the type of scrub with a piece of foam in the middle. I only manage to find two 3pack nylon pot scrubber from a Wal-Mart. any one know where I can get them in bulk?
