Ok so dont flame me but I live in Florida so I actually dont heat my tanks at all unless treating a tank lol the fish dont seem to care one way or another. My temps usually ride between 74-78 F and of course higher in the summer with the temps usually topping out at 82-84 F.
That is great. I wish I was able to do that in the Northeast. I am sure that contributes to your success in breeding having actual seasonal temp changes
Yeah I used to try to keep all the tanks at 78 or above but its a hassle during colder months matching temps for water changes...I've read that we probably keep our tanks too warm for the majority of the fish we keep anyways and that the cooler temps result in longer lived fish.
Lol its a good read. I think we OD on things like temps trying our best to accommadate the fish but I don't think there's any cause for real concern until you talking about getting 10+ degrees outside of a fishes recommended temp range.
