Andy (+4"(TL)) and Sally (~3"(TL)) are ready for breeding and you can see Sally's ovipositor very low. They are cleaning an area as I speak and I am expecting eggs within 24 hours. Sally is swelling like a balloon.

Let me know what you think.

very nice tank and fish. good luck with the impending spawn

Thanks. I am really glad I decided to keep them. They have been very rewarding.

******

They are currently lip-locking/sparring combined with flaring and flirting. I have a video but I can't upload until tomorrow (in bed watching them :) ). Their colours are amazing right now, moreso than in the pictures.

Looking good! How aggressive are these?

Thankyou.

Well from my experience with these ones, EXTREMELY.

More so than the Red Devil I had. I haven't kept them with anything other than SDs, Corries and Tetras (which were removed; by them). So I don't know how the fair against other cichlids for instance. But they are very rough on eachother. For example, Sally, the female, now has a peeling upper lip from fighting with both Andy and the smaller male in there.

They are quite hard to keep fin tidy and I have found that a higher quantity works best. Having 6 means aggro is spread better.

:)
