Stand Adjustment

I ran some numbers through the https://woodbin.com/calcs/sagulator/. Your stand members look to be 2x6 doubled up and the tank weighs approx 3000 full. If the tank is 8ft x 2ft the deflection of the front support is only 0.03in , if 10ft then only 0.05in, without a brace. The addition of the 3/4 plywood does increase the support strength. This amount of sag will be noticeable to the eye but would be temporary. I would still recommend draining the tank to reduce weight before accomplishing the swap.
My 260g (7ft x 30in x 24in) sits on a frame built of 2x8 doubled up with 3 layers of 3/4ply but the tanks has 100lbs plus of gravel and lots of large rocks so similar weight to your 300g. I do not use a center brace.View attachment 1481099
Would mine be ok without one then?

What material is the lumber. The numbers I ran were based on douglas fir timbers. I just ran calculations for hemlock and the sag would be .3/ft or 1.5in sag across 10ft which is considered excessive. If 8ft the total sag is still excessive at 0.60in.
Is the plywood screwed down or floating?

Screwed down. Will have to double check on material

How does a bigger sump improve filtration?

Can't you improve the efficiency if current sump is inadequate?

You could use two smaller sumps joined?

Moving the center post offset would work but your fish is going to jump and stress while the water is low and modifications are made.

A 5mm thick steel equal angle strip screwed along length into front horizontal beam should prevent wood bow if you wanted to remove the center post.

It isn't the pump that is not adequate. I need more space in my sump (water dilution) and more space for more biomedia. I plan on adding more grow out rays to this system and this sump size was only temporary to begin with

The water is drained that low every few days for water changes so I'm not worried about that.

For the metal support to work it would need to span the full length of the tank and the width of the two 2x6s that make up the front beam.
