Is there a way to open the stand from the sides so that you can slide in a 75 or 80 gallon sump inside?

You could cut a hole in the side and put a door on it. There is a divider in the middle but it doesn't fully divide the stand and could be partially cut away. Depending on the height of the sump you may not have much room above it to do maintenance.
If you want an overhead sump but don't want to see it, this is the canopy for you. Plenty of room, open top, doors across the whole front and one on each side for easy access.
