This forum is very touchy feely. I'm the same as you. I also frequent much harsher forums for the most part, and sometimes it spills over here. People take comments a bit too serious here sometimes.....They don't remember that it's the interwebz, and not everything has to be so personal.

Anyway, OP, I'd say you'r fine. I like to put some ply down under my glass tanks to get a good smooth surface for it to sit on. And with all of the weight, ply will actually compress since it's layered softish wood and glue. So the ply will soak up some imperfections. If you read a bunch of manufacturers recommendations, a lot of them will recommend 1 or 2 layers of ply under a big tank.

It also depends if your tank sits on a plastic frame like a mass produced aqueon or marineland small tank typically does, or if the tank sits on a glass bottom (not sitting on a plastic trim ring).
