Standard 90 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive got a 75 oin my kitchen of my apt. 2nd floor. no problems. weighs about 1100 lbs with everything in it. its also in a corner though. if you put it in a corner it should be fine.

Im on the 3rd floor of a house built in 1876. I got a 90 gal tank sitting flush on top of another empty 90 gal tank that does not hold water. i needed a stand and improvised. The top tank is full of 200+lbs of Jade Rock. you got me worried now...but no problems as of yet...

Alright thanks alot guys. Pretty confident in doing it now. Just had some worries because I've seen some posts where people question putting their tanks in 2nd story buildings

From personal experiece, I would worry more about the tank cracking and spilling that much water on the floor. I had a 50 gallon crack and in about 3 minutes, 50 gallons of water was on the floor.

It can cause water damage and will leak to the bottom floor. But yea, it might never happen to you. Guess you have to have faith in your tank.

1100?
75x8lbs in a gallon = 600
tank maybe 150 with stand tops
wheres the other 350?

seems high I think thats about what my 125 weighs?

What always throws me off in these discussions is we discuss the weight of the tank, not the two 350 lb friends standing in front of the tank. This is why structural engineers lay awake at night second guessing their decisions. :)

this is exactly why I have always had my tanks on ground level.

god forbid something happens, at least its only that floor that gets ruined.

not the floor and all kinds of damage from water working its way down..

if you can keep your tanks on ground level, do so.

weight is not the only issue to think about.

water and gravity is another..
