Standpipe help

I haven't bought a pump yet, and there is no water in the tank. The waters surface will be at most 55 inches from the top of the pump (this assumes the pump is flush with the bottom of the tank and the water fills the tank to the brim). More realistically, it will be 52 inches less the height of the pump. I plan on purchasing a pump based on the flow rate I am looking for. I haven't read up enough yet, but I'm thinking 5 times volume is 600 GPH.

I just noticed in another thread you suggested a "Quite one 3000" pump. I'm going to try to pick one up. Depending on how tall a sump I end up with, I may build it on a platform to decrease the distance from the pump to the top of the water line. If I understand correctly, this will increase my flow rate, which should be a good thing.

Another item worth mentioning. The standpipes as currently set up don't have any elbows in them. I may be able to set up the sump not to have elbows a t all. Does this help with the flow rate situation?
