Staple food for Oscars

I am always switching up the diet choices for my O's. Hikari Bio Gold and the regular cichlid pellets. I also make their own mix. This is the best way to introduce vegies into their diets.
Try and make you own food with the key ingredients. Mine were a little shy with it at first but now they devoure it fast.
It is a pretty balanced diet. I feed this every other day for diner. It get messy with the small ones due to they will try to eat everything before they finish whats in their mouths. The adults are much cleaner when eating it.
fish
shrimp
cooked chicken liver
peas
steamed carrots(to soften)
crushed garlic
spinich
fish food pellets-softened
crushed vitamin C tablets
geletin
Blend in blender and pour onto cookie sheet and freeze. Then cut into squares and bag up portions in quart ziplock freezer bags.

The geletin will help hold it together better when it hits the water and their mouths.

You already know, but to give an idea.

Mainly I feed freeze dried gammarus.
On the side they get Morio's, Dola's, little frozen fish, shrimps, big spirulina pellets, mysis, life guppies, and big cichlid pellets.
The last one for vitamine C, which O's cant make themselves.
And I try which plants they like tearing up or to eat.
And every now and then I plant some.
But my Oscars do not eat anything green besides spirulina pellets.

I'm gonna feed morios and dolas fruit, so the Oscars get their vitamins that way.

Jehmco had an oscar chow that was cheap and mine loved it. I think he still carries it.
