Hello everyone, I just picked up 4 female star sapphire cichlids 2 days ago and added them with my male in a already established tank and I am having problems. The females seem to show no interest in the male and are being aggressive towards each other. I don't know what the problem is as I am very new to this species. Any help is appreciated (they are in a 40 breeder as of right now quarantining along side my male).

I would put them in a bigger tank (ex/ 6 foot 180 gallon tank). When you see breeding activity if the tank is big enough just leave them there, but if that tank is causing problems you can move just the male & that female to the 40 long.

How big are they? They may be simply to young to show interest in males.

I agree with the others. The aggression can be an issue because of the limited space.

How are they quarantining in the same tank if you bought them at different times?
Females typically don’t show interest in the males, it’s the other way around.
