STarry Night Eel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only difference from other spiney eels is that this one may require a higher pH if it is from Lake T.

My water naturally is very hard with high Ph. I always ask the lfs what they are keeping their fish in before I bring it home. Usually it's just tap water. Now I would LOVE a Tanganyikan eel, but I doubt I would come across one at the lfs. :(

the lfs doesn't keep any of their fish in the proper parameters consciously, if it lives it lives to them, and if it dies then **** em is what they think of it.

they have a cookie-cutter minimal sustenance for every fish they got, same ph on the fresh side of their store, same salinity throughout the cubicles on the salt side.

meaning, you'd prolly do the fish justice to buy it now, given you are paying the least bit more attention to what it needs.

Really late on this one, but i just bought one and the guy who sold it knew all about it. They definitely won't grow to 3 feet like other eels. The 9 inches someone else posted is likely but they can grow over 1 foot. I'm currently keeping a 6 inch Starry Night in a 3 gallon. yea, they don't hunt (but its possible) and hide in the sand a lot. They really don't need much space but you DO need a good lid.
