start of 55 gallon african cichlid tank

i have like 20 in my 55 with lots of rockwork.
i would suggest a blackbackground, africans are notorious for having some amazing colors and theres no better way to show them off than with a black background.

But either way awesome looking tank, cant wait to see it stocked!

your rockwork looks really great! they will love it. i would get a background like the above poster stated (i used that shelf liner you use for kitchen cabinets in a black marble on one of my tanks.. it was only a few dollars and looks great) and maybe slap another tall plant in the back middle... they will sleep in your plants.
