Saw an article on Comcast news about a Pirahna caught in NC waters. Here is a quote:

"When I got it on the bank I didn't really know what it was; I hadn't seen anything like it before," Melton said.
When Melton opened the fish's mouth with a pocketknife, he said the fish bit down and left an impression on the blade.
Wildlife officials told Melton on Saturday that he caught a 1 pound, 4 ounce piranha that was probably dumped in the river. Melton was fishing in Mount Holly, a town northwest of Charlotte.

I don't beleive for a second that this fish left an impression in a steel knife blade!

Here is the pic that was with the article:

its not a piranha just another ugly pacu...wata dumbass was he usein a rubber knife for the pacu to leave an impression

I kinda thought Pacu too. The teeth don't look sharp enough to be a Pirahna. But what about the armor plate like scales around the eyes? That looked like Pirahna to me. I am no expert on Ps, but that was my thoughts anyway.

News people really try to start panic and alarm don't they? :nilly:

Hey experts out there, is this a Pacu or Pirahna?

Maybe it is a Pirahna, but it just dulled its teeth on that guy's knife!

You can tell by the snout, mouth shape, and teeth that it's a pacu. The story is so ridiculous. Leaving an imprint on a steel knife? What an idiot. What's sad is that a DNR agent (supposed "expert" in the area) gave a false ID as a piranha and started the whole scare. Same thing just happened in Ohio a couple months ago.

The story actually made me laugh the moment I read it. I always knew piranhas are wimps but imprint on a steel knife?:WHOA:
