Start of the silver dollar tank.

Mostly a silver dollar and floating plant tank but will have a small clean up crew.
Maybe a small school of congos as well.
Any suggestions on what else would make a good addition?

Start making a few basalt caves today. Or clean the house. Could go either way.

you silver dollars may be skittish in there, mine were very skittish in my 90 (48x18x24) but after relocating them to the 450 they became very mellow and interactive with me

Yeah the common consensus seems to be they need a 6 foot tank to be comfortable

Well there's no shortage of places to hide.
A few will be grown out for my other tank.
Figure a decent size school lots of food plants and no predators should keep them happy.

I don't think it's as much about hiding as it is swimming space. They need to simulate swimming away

The silver dollars are darting fish. They dart all over the place when spooked and constantly ram their noses into the glass if the tank is too small.

my understanding they are also schoolers, not into the hiding thing.

Yeah my others don't do a lot of hiding but they often like somewhere to hide if spooked when there young.

Saying that the five that sent the last few years in that tank didn't seem to mind.

Your tank is going to look really nice when done, are you envisioning it as a grow out or home for life with your planned stock?
