start to my diy 480 gallon timber pond (not finished)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just make sure the wire mesh is plastic/fiberglass not metal. i put some in as a bivider for my bettas once, not knowing it as netal. rusted up and killed my fish.
as for the pouches they should just stack and kinda stay in place. if its a problem tie em together to mkae one uber pouch!

ya and ya :D
and im going to bump all this :D
you guys better stop me before i re invent the wheel just kidding
ok so heres a filter "like" the one im thinking
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...icrosoft:en-us
and heres a great pic of my filter idea

blue-pond overflow like in last pic i posted
green-water lettuce i think it is
brown-felt sheets and filter matting
grey-sponges
yellow-scrubbies
red-some type of rock like they did in the link above
black-pumps

brown, grey and yellow i have an idea.
use window screen to make big pouches "kinda like huge hob filters".
they would be 4'x2' to fit my filter.
glue or sew up all but one side "or all" stuffed with each media.
"this is to make removal and cleaning easier"

not sure how i would make the "pouches" stay in place.

its looking good midnight. I take it you're going to use a pondliner. And if you don't want anything 'above the pond' then you must have to drill in overflows? Could you take detailed photos of drilling through the pond liner? I was thinking about using a pond liner for my future raised pond but i don't really wanna drill through the liner. I was thinking of using some water proof paint. And using silicon to seal the edges.

you would have to drill the wood then cut the liver with a razor blade. put a afitting on the pipe, then a bid rubber washer , slide the pipe through the hole (from the inside) then silicone the rubber washer to the liner and then makesure the pipe is pulled snug against it...its just like drilling an aquarium for a sump.

nice pond midnight! lookin really good!:headbang2

you need a gar in there also! lol...might eat ur other fish but would still be cool

yupp. I was confused at first because i forgot he had the plywood sheets. S'all good

yeah just build it right next to the pond and a lil lower and pump back in.

ok so i think im going with my filter plan
"well i am,i bought and cut the wood" :screwy:
went and got 10 more timbers.
only wood left to get it the top plate :headbang2
10 timbers were for the filter and my bench idea. :headbang2
filter is just sitting there and the bench isnt cut or bolted.
water will overflow into the filter in the center.
filter is 4'x2'
bench will be about 4' long
