Started Cycling and crystal clear water?

i just cut small holes in a sandwich bag and left the shrimp in it for 2 days...i would fill the bag up with water and let it flow out the holes aswell as soak....

yea man i would rot the **** out of some shrimp in that tank and blow the params out of the water, then let it settle in. Then the tank would be ready for anything!
but before i cycled i would have enough sand to cover the bottom with and inch or more. Also have a lot of live rock and flow with skimmer or have a goooood filter with plenty of bio.

ive just had my first red algae bloom but it was small and easily wiped with my sponge algae scrub. and i just built my own protein skimmer with wood stones.
its roughly 14" tall with collection cup at the top.
will add more rocks soon as i find a place that sells good quality rocks for cheap. im not into paying $7/lb
lol your tank should be cycled by now, with live rock and live sand it should only take a week. Your cycled by now right? and have fish?

It's the second time it's been crystal clear because I put In a bunch of high protein dry food and 3 sheets of plain nori as well as 5lbs of live rock. Thing was CLOUDY!!!! But it just got clear again and when that happens is when I noticed all the little colonies of red hair algae.
I was about to add in more cuc and maybe a chromis to get things started with livestock but I haven't had time. Today wish me luck that I can get something today in the tank.
