Started the "Double Insulated" Pond Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would double up on the rigid before I bothered with any of the batting based insulation. That stuff is worthless
Fiberglass batting insulation is far better at insulating than rigid if used correctly. Also the rigid insulation will compress some on the inside and be less effective.

for sure the fiberglass batting insulation in the walls is better than the polystyrene inside. that polystyrene will squish and lose 50% of its insulative properties. if you had the walls full of polystyrene it would be the best. just fold the liner behind itself as best you can and the water will flatten it out.

The going is slow, but I'm getting there. I finished the filter...http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231406

Now I am waiting on the pump. I won a new Laguna pump on ebay for a steal from petstore*com but they screwed me. The auction listed more than 10 available yet 5 days after I paid they refunded my money saying the item was not available. How they went from more than 10 to none is B.S.
So I just ordered a Pondmaster Hy-Drive pump. Should be here in a few days then I can start to cycle.

Impressive insulation

nice stocklist:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 though i would suggest something for upper swimming, like half dozen donated oscars;) and if they disappear atleast they were donated, free fish food.

Finally got the pump! Almost time to fill it up and start the cycle. Woooo Hoooo

I may consider adding some freebies to the stock list if they become available.

Just a quick update. Started some of the "decor" and filled the pond about 2/3 to settle the liner and test my carpenter skills! Need to visit a pool store to get some hose for the pump, hook up the new outlets (GFCI) to the breaker panel, and finish the front and top of the pond. I plan on doing 1 x 6 boards across the front in a red stain. I think it will look good when done....
